Why is this Year Different from All other Years?

Although every year is different at Temple, there are additonal challenges imposed on having in-person services in this time of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Brotherhood and WRJ/Sisterhood members are again enthusiastically volunteering to help make their fellow congregants services a bit easier and more enjoyable ... and safer and healthier. Our assistance to our congregation will continue to be critical.

So, what are we doing differently this year?

• First, it must be stressed that we continue to abide by updated C.D.C guidance. Consequently, there may be changes ushering responsibilities up until services begin.
• All ushers must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before the training session and wear masks at all times while inside the temple.
• We may have to remind people that while inside temple they must wear a mask that fully covers their mouth and nose.
• Because of all the changes in procedures this year, only those who attend the training meeting will be able to usher.
• One thing that will not change is ticket collection. Ushers are NOT responsible for verifying tickets. That will be done by a hired security firm. Because of Covid-19, anyone arriving without a ticket will not be allowed in the building.
• You can volunteer only for those services for which you hold tickets. 
• Fewer ushers will be needed this year due to temple's attendance limitations. Therefore, you may be assigned for fewer services than for those which you volunteered.
• Ushers will not be distributing prayer books this year. Congregants will retrieve their own prayer books.
• We'll take a more active role in getting people to settle themselves in their seats. Congregating with friends and/or relatives in common areas can be a high risk activity during the pandemic. 
• Attending the virtual Training Meeting on Wednesday, September 1, will be mandatory in order to usher this year. Knowledge of our new safety procedures is critical.
