Help Congregants

The High Holy Days, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, are the services each year with the highest attendance. Cordially greeting people, getting them into the sanctuary with the least possible waiting time, and comfortably into seats has a huge impact on how well people perceive and react to the solemnity of the day. And this year, with the threat of additional Covid-19 infections, our help is especially important. Help others integrate into the emotionality of these "Days of Awe" is a critical function. It is a true mitzvah.

Be the Face of Temple

For many of our congregants the High Holy Days are the most significant times at which they attend temple. They end up having more interaction with the HHD ushers than anyone else at temple. Consequently, the way even just one usher treats them may be their total reaction to the way that temple interacts with them. Our sincere greetings to our fellow congregants and our help in getting them settled, comfortable, and ready for services is amazingly key.

In order to more fully understand how we ushers represent the entire temple and to know how to best optimize that representation, there will be an ushers meeting at temple on Sunday, August 29^th, a week before Rosh Hashanah.
